what is the difference between paintball markers and hoppers?

I keep seein both. i think there the same but i am not sure…

A "marker" is just another word for a paintball gun. It sounds better to people who don’t like firearms.

A hopper is the container on top of the marker that holds all the paintballs.

Pretty much. The gun itself (no co2 tank, hopper or anything) is the marker. The hopper is what holds the paint and sits on top of the marker. This’ll clear it up for you:

Sorry for the poor writing. It’s hard to write in paint.

Some people will use the word "marker" as the everything though (as in the marker, hopper, co2). So not all use it as it’s technical term, but that’s what each one means.
