Do Electric Paintball Markers always need to be used with batteries?

by lindaranch1973 on March 25, 2010

I’ve been doing paintball for a while now, and its time to get a marker.

I don’t want the worst thing so I’m going directly to the electrics.

I’m thinking in a Spyder VS1. And it says it comes with rechargeable battery.

So I was thinking, if they always need to be used with batteries or maybe if I want to turn OFF some stuff, I can just use it without batteries and leave the batteries for other serious matters?

no, electronic guns must use batteries. The way an electronic gun works (specifically the VS1) is by having an electronic piston trip the sear that fires the gun. Without the battery to power the piston, the sear can not be tripped and the gun wont fire. But I have never seen a gun by any brand that will fire with and without batteries.

no The battery is what powers the marker without it it wont shoot I would look into a marker that uses a regular 9 volt battery like the Ion not a special battery like the spyder. I just buy a pack of 9 volts & keep them with me instead of worring whether or not I would have to charge my battery in the middle of the day. The Ion is great on batteries too I went 6 month’s on one battery playing every other weekend
