Any good Paintball Markers for both indoor and outdoor play?

by lindaranch1973 on March 15, 2010

I need a good paintball marker which will perform well in both indoor fields and outdoor fields. My dad and I enjoy playing woodsball at times but due to his job he his unable to do this all of the time so we play at indoor fields a lot. We’re currently looking at the Tippmann A-5 marker but many sites say that this is more of an outdoor marker. We can splurge on two markers and we don’t want to be outgunned. Any input?

Well, when you mean indoor, do you mean speedball?

If I was you, I would pick up the Spyder Pilot 2008 w/ Eyes.
It is cheap, plus it has a high ROF.
The A-5 is meant for woodsball only, however it can be used for speedball.. but its highly irregular. It only shoots as fast as you can shoot with the cyclone feed.
I’m guessing if you say indoor, you mean speedball.

Anyways, if I was in your position I would take a speedball gun. (Any electronic gun) There are no rules that say that you can’t use a speedball gun out in the woods. If you meant indoor fields that are similar to woodsball fields and not the inflatable bunkers (speedball) you could go with either one, but I’d be leaning towards a speedball gun in the end.

Recommendations:
For woodsball only:
Tippmann 98 Custom
Tippmann Alpha Black
Tippmann A-5

For Speedball Only:
Spyder VS1,VS2,VS3
Spyder Pilot

Whatever you do, do not get a smart parts ion. I have owned one and the resale value for it is terrible. You have to do lots maintenance on the gun also.

Yes I personally like the tipmann series. The A-5 works wonders in the woods and is fast enough to play indoors. If you get an electronic trigger I would recommend not getting the gun extremely wet as this may short circuit the board. The A-5 is though a slightly less expensive and lower end marker, they are right in saying that it may not keep up with the indoor markers of which shoot a rapid 15-30BPS.

If your going for style and accuracy and all around good performance Tippmann is a good choice.

Another good choice for more added speed (and consequently costs more money) and given if your not intending to play in the rain, or in extremely wet terrain the SP-8 is a nice choice for the woodsballer and indoor lover, it’s 17BPS dose the job of suppressing and holding your own, this marker is although quite long for indoor play being a very long 21 inches and weighing at 4 lbs and 4 ounces.

There are two types of markers now a days, indoor and outdoor, you can play with both indoor and out door if you choose, but playing with an electronic marker outdoors can lead to your board being fried, and that would cost a hefty penny. I personally started out with the tippmann 98 coustom, and moved to an ION and it has served me well ever since. The A-5 sounds like a good choice, just don’t do any indoor tournyments with it, unless you get an electronic grip.
