Basic Paintball Equipment
As people spend more of their time playing paintball, they begin to realize that there is a great selection of accessories available in the market. But with all these options, what equipments do players really need to have?
For beginners, the basic paintball equipments to start with are:
• A paintball mask. No paintball player, not matter how good and experienced, can play without it.
• A paintball gun. You have to do a very good research job before buying a gun. Some players choose to buy and aftermarket barrel as well.
• Good clothing suited and meant to the sport paintball.
• A barrel blocking device, also known as a barrel plug or a barrel stock. These blocking devices prevent injuries should someone accidentally fires a paintball gun when not playing. No insured paintball fields will allow anybody play without having one. Players who play outlaw paintball should also have one for safety purposes.
• An air supply. Every paintball player should have this. For pump guns and pistols, you will need 12 gram cartridges. Most other paintball guns can run on CO2 or nitro or High Pressure Air (HPA). HPA is considered to be better, but CO2 operated guns are a lot cheaper and are more readily available.
• A hopper. A hopper feeds the paintballs into the gun (or a pint tube for people using a pump gun or a pistol). A regular 200-round hopper will do fine if a gun’s rate of fire is 12 bps or less. But if you are using a faster gun, an electronic hopper is necessary.
Now that you now the basic gears that you should have to start playing paintball, it is very important that you keep them in good shape as possible. Maintaining your paintball equipments is just as important as buying, so make sure that you take good care of them.

Here are some useful items that you should have to keep your paintball gears in good working condition:
• A paintball gun oil. Paintball guns have a particular oil – and not just some regular gun oil or some other kind of oil – for lubing the inside of the paintball gun.
• A squeegee. Cleaning your barrels will be a lot easier with a squeegee.
• A couple extra O-rings. O-rings are some of the things that will most likely need replacing from time to time. But since they come very cheap, it is good to have spares.
• A barrel sleeve and a stuff bag for the mask. These items are very affordable and will help you protect your equipment whether in storage or being transported from your house to the paintball field.
